Eels fined for stuarts referee spray

- The NRL has fined a team of South Sydney forwards and backrower John Sutton $25,000 for what was seen as a racially motivated misconduct against an official in the club’s game against Newcastle.

Sutton was seen to kick Canterbury hooker Luke Brooks with his elbow on the helmet in the first quarter of the game at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday. He was fined and issued a warning, after the referees were forced to step in to stop Brooks pushing on the opposition player.

However, after a lengthy investigation from both the NRL and the club, it emerged this was an incident of non-contact rather than a racial slur.

Sutton was banned from the NRL for three matches, and was also fined $10,000. It will now be up to a panel to decide if Sutton will be granted a fresh punishment.

In what some commentators have described as a « big blow », the NRL announced it had ordered Sydney to pay $25,000 to apologise to the team.

« On behalf of the NRL I would likejarvees.com to make this clear that therjarvees.come is no place in our competition for anyone to act in a way that is likely to damage our reputation or interfere with a match being played, » the announcement read.

« There are clear lines of conduct between game officials and their colleagues, and the League strongly condemns those in the game of contact as unacceptable.

« The punishment for the offending player has now been imposed. »

It is thought the payment will likely be paid to a legal bill for the matter and a review of any pl바카라ayer-to-player incidents over the next two years.
